Computer science professor J\u00f6rg Hoffmann has been appointed Fellow of the “European Association for Artificial Intelligence” (EurAI). With this, EurAI honors his outstanding and lasting contributions to the research field of artificial intelligence in Europe. The decisive factor for the award was his research in the field of AI planning.<\/b><\/p>\n

The letters of recommendation for admission to the Fellows Program state: \u201cJ\u00f6rg Hoffmann has been one of the world leaders in the area of AI planning<\/span> research for almost twenty years. His contributions range from new insightful theoretical analysis of action planning, over the introduction of new methods and efficient implementations of planning systems to creative application of planning techniques.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2012 J\u00f6rg Hofmann is professor of computer science at Saarland University, where he heads the “Foundations of Artificial Intelligence” research group. He is the third researcher from Saarbr\u00fccken to be accepted by the “European Association for Artificial Intelligence” into its Fellows Program since 1999 – before him, Professor Wolfgang Wahlster and Professor J\u00f6rg Siekmann, both of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), received this honor.<\/p>\n

The admission to the Fellows Program of EurAI is already the second international honor for J\u00f6rg Hoffmann this year. Earlier this year, he was appointed a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).<\/p>\n
