Two papers from Saarland Informatics Campus have received an “Honorable Mention” for the “Outstanding Paper Award” at the 36th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI 2022). Both papers are part of the Transregional Collaborative Research Center “Foundations of Perspicuous Software Systems” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daniel Fi\u0161er, Alvaro Torralba, Professor J\u00f6rg Hoffman from the research group “Foundations of Artificial Intelligence” at Saarland University were awarded for their work “Operator-Potential Heuristics for Symbolic Search”.<\/p>\n

In addition, Jiarui Gan, Rupak Majumdar, Goran Radanovic and Adish Singla, Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (Saarbr\u00fccken and Kaiserslautern) were honored with an Honorable Mention for their work “Bayesian Persuasion in Sequential Decision-Making”.<\/p>\n

The AAAI conference is one of the two leading international venues for AI research, covering all sub-areas of the field. AAAI 2022 received more than 9000 submissions of which 1370 were accepted for publication. Only 3 of these accepted papers were selected for an outstanding paper award, acknowledging the internationally outstanding nature of their technical contribution.<\/p>\n

Background Saarland Informatics Campus:
\n<\/strong>900 scientists (including 400 PhD students) and about 2100 students from more than 80 nations make the Saarland Informatics Campus (SIC) one of the leading locations for computer science in Germany and Europe. Five world-renowned research institutes, namely the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the Center for Bioinformatics and the Cluster for “Multimodal Computing and Interaction” as well as Saarland University with three departments and 24 degree programs cover the entire spectrum of computer science.<\/p>\n
