Saarbr\u00fccken is one of the worldwide epicenters of computer graphics research. Several groups at Saarland University, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence are addressing the issues of this research field at the highest international level. Now, from May 8 to 12, the 44th Eurographics Annual Conference of the European Association for Computer Graphics, the largest computer graphics symposium in Europe, will take place at the Saarland Informatics Campus at Saarland University.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since its establishment in 1980, the Eurographics Conference has been one of the premier international events in the field of computer graphics, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and the presentation of cutting-edge research. With its focus on theoretical and practical aspects of computer graphics, the conference is directed at aspiring researchers, experienced academics and industry experts from all over the world. In 2002, the Eurographics Conference was already hosted once before in Saarbr\u00fccken.<\/p>\n

“We are very happy to host the 2023 edition of Eurographics and thus welcome the international computer graphics research community to the Saarland Informatics Campus. This is a great opportunity to showcase Saarland’s scientific excellence in computer science and to establish new contacts, both in research and in industry,” says the conference chair, Professor Hans-Peter Seidel. The director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics is himself among the most distinguished figures in the field of computer graphics and has been honored many times in his decades-long career, most recently with induction into the ACM SIGGRAPH Academy, one of the highest honors in computer graphics research.<\/p>\n

More than 350 researchers from around 30 countries will attend the conference from May 8-12 . In addition to the scientific program, the guests will also visit Saarbr\u00fccken and other sights of the Saarland.<\/p>\n

Background Saarland Informatics Campus:
\n<\/strong>900 scientists (including 400 PhD students) and about 2500 students from more than 80 nations make the Saarland Informatics Campus (SIC) one of the leading locations for computer science in Germany and Europe. Four world-renowned research institutes, namely the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the Center for Bioinformatics as well as Saarland University with three departments and 24 degree programs cover the entire spectrum of computer science.<\/p>\n
