Anja Feldmann, director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbr\u00fccken and professor at Saarland University, has been awarded the 2024 “IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award”. This accolade is presented by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s most extensive technical professional association. The Internet expert Feldmann is being honored in particular for her pioneering research into a faster, more efficient and more stable Internet.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professor Anja Feldmann is regarded one of the world’s leading experts in the field of the Internet. Her fundamental and practical work on the measurement, analysis and modeling of Internet traffic and on Internet routing has made a significant contribution to the further development of the Internet, especially with regard to security and reliability.<\/p>\n

Her research interests include Internet traffic measurement, network bottleneck location, programmable networks, broadband access evolution, cloud networks, “ISP-Application Collaboration” and “Community-Inspired Optimization”. Since 2018, Anja Feldmann has been director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbr\u00fccken. From 2000-2002, she held the Chair of Computer Networking at Saarland University.<\/p>\n

The citation for Anja Feldmann’s award reads “For contributions to the field of networking and Internet technologies, specifically to traffic engineering, network measurements, and Internet protocols.” The IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award was established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 1986. The Award is named in honor of Dr. Koji Kobayashi, who was a leading force in advancing the integrated use of computers and communications.<\/p>\n

Background Saarland Informatics Campus:
