Vahid Babaei, head of the research group “Artificial Intelligence aided Design and Manufacturing” at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbr\u00fccken, has been awarded the “Curious-Mind-Forscherpreis 2023” in the category “Digitization, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence”. The award <\/strong>recognizes young scientists under the age of 40 whose work not only demonstrates the highest level of academic excellence, but also indicates that it will provide impetus for the future of the German economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vahid Babaei’s research on pills from the 3D printer<\/a> was highlighted in particular. With this new method, pills are produced in such a way that their shape alone allows them to dissolve over a certain period of time and thus, for example, release active ingredients into a patient’s body in a controlled manner.<\/p>\n

The “Curious-Mind-Forscherpreis” is endowed with 7500 euros and has been awarded since 2018 as part of the iduction ceremony to the “Hall of Fame of German Research”. The Hall of Fame was established by Manager Magazin in 2009 and has been organized jointly with the chemical and pharmaceutical company Merck since 2015. At this year’s ceremony at the “New Institute” in Hamburg, Professor Wolfgang Wahlster was honored for his life’s work<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The jury in the category “Digitalisierung, Robotik und K\u00fcnstliche Intelligenz”, in which Vahid Babaei was awarded, includes: Otmar Wiestler, President of the Helmholtz Association; Rafael Laguna de la Vera, Founding Director of the Federal Agency for Leap Innovations (“Sprind”); Ulrich Dietz, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GFT SE; Miriam Wohlfarth, Founder and Managing Director of Banxware; Stefan Sigg, Member of the Executive Board of Software AG; and Simone Salden, Vice Editor-in-Chief of Manager Magazin.<\/p>\n
