Tomohiro Nagashima, Junior Professor of Computer Science at Saarland University, has been appointed a Henriette Herz Scout<\/i> by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. This distinction enables him to nominate three promising international researchers. Following a formal review, these candidates will be awarded a research fellowship from the Humboldt Foundation, allowing them to conduct research at Saarland University for a period of six months to two years.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his research group, Tomohiro Nagashima explores topics at the intersection of human-computer interaction, learning sciences, and cognitive science.
\n\u201cOur goal is to better understand and support human learning through advanced technologies. To achieve this, we work closely with teachers and students in schools to co-develop new learning technologies. We aim not only to create tools for academic research, but also to support day-to-day practice in classrooms and other learning environments,\u201d says Tomohiro Nagashima.<\/p>\n

The international postdoctoral researchers selected by the Saarbr\u00fccken-based junior professor will enjoy a high degree of freedom and flexibility in choosing their research topics.
\n\u201cMy aim is to bring them into my group so that we can collaboratively investigate AI-based learning technologies together with educational practitioners,\u201d Nagashima explains. He also sees this as an opportunity to strengthen the interdisciplinary focus of his group and welcomes candidates from related fields such as design, psychology, or cognitive science.<\/p>\n
