The aim of the program is to motivate young women to study the above-mentioned MINT (English: STEM) subjects &#8211; because despite good study conditions and job prospects, the number of women in these subjects is still relatively low. The program is organized by the Koordinationsstelle Gender Equality MINT of the Gleichstellungsb\u00fcro at Saarland University. The deadline for applications is October 31, 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The mentoring program &#8220;MentoMINT&#8221; enables female students from the Saarland in grades nine to eleven to spend a year exploring a MINT subject of their choice. Together with student mentors, the participants make first contacts at the university, attend lectures and research groups and get to know student life at Saarland University. The program is supplemented by several supporting events, such as visiting the non-university research institutions on Campus.\u00a0The meetings with the mentors do not take place during school hours and can be integrated into the everyday life of the participating students. In addition, the format was adapted so that it can continue to be offered during times of Corona: Video meetings and other activities enrich the program and offer new possibilities for interaction between students and mentors.<\/p>\n<p>MentoMINT has been supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture since its inception in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for applications for 2021 is 31st of October 2020. The program starts in January 2021 and 12 places are available.
