During this year’s digital kickoff event, the Computer Science Student Council presented its “Busy Beaver” award for the first time since the start of the Corona Pandemic. The award is given to lecturers in the department of Computer Science who have distinguished themselves through their teaching.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the winter semester 2020\/21, the Student representatives honored the following courses as particularly outstanding:<\/p>\n

In the category “Basic Lectures”, Professor Bernd Finkbeiner is awarded for the lecture “Programming 1″. Winner in the category \u201eCore and Advanced Lectures” is the course “Side-Channel Attacks and Defenses” by Dr. Michael Schwarz. The prize for the best seminar was not awarded this year due to a lack of data – the course “Mathematics for Computer Scientists 3” by Junior Professor Michael Hartz still received an honorable mention.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>800 scientists and about 2100 students from more than 80 nations make the Saarland Informatics Campus (SIC) one of the leading locations for computer science in Germany and Europe. Five world-renowned research institutes, namely the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the Center for Bioinformatics and the Cluster for “Multimodal Computing and Interaction” as well as Saarland University with three departments and 21 degree programs cover the entire spectrum of computer science.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
