IDESSAI 2026 – Sixth Inria-DFKI European Science School on AI

IDESSAI 2026 brings together top AI experts and emerging researchers for an intensive week dedicated to Trusted AI. With hands-on learning, renowned speakers, and limited participation, the school offers an exceptional opportunity to learn, connect, and innovate.

IDESSAI 2026 is the sixth annual science school organized jointly by Inria and DFKI, the French and German AI research institutes. It stands out from the crowd of offerings for AI students in several aspects:

Ensuring a good balance in the number of participants and instructors: participants will have the opportunity to join a community of like-minded people and, at the same time, be in close contact with the experts.
Our program features a line-up of courses focused on Trusted AI.
On top of the latest methodological advances and the shared vision of the future that both organizing institutes have to offer, IDESSAI 2026 will be practically oriented. We will achieve this through courses with hands-on labs or case studies, and the Startup Studios.
Participants will be offered the opportunity to present their work to each other in dedicated poster sessions.

TARGETED AUDIENCE

IDESSAI 2026 is primarily designed for PhD students in all areas of AI, including machine learning, knowledge representation and reasoning, search and optimization, planning and scheduling, multi-agent systems, natural language processing, robotics, computer vision, and other areas. PhD students in other fields, MSc students, postdocs, and researchers in academia and industry are also welcome.

VENUE

IDESSAI 2026 is planned as a fully in-person event, which will take place at the Graduate Center at the University in Saarbrücken.

FEES AND REGISTRATION

Our fees include coffee breaks, lunch and 2 evening events on Monday and Wednesday. Please keep in mind that accommodation must be organized on your own and paid for by you.
