A great honor: Professor Michael Backes is now an IEEE Fellow
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a worldwide professional association of engineers, has appointed Professor Michael Backes, Scientific Director of the Helmholtz Centre for Information Security (CISPA) in Saarbrücken, Germany, as an IEEE Fellow.
The IEEE Fellow distinction is an honorary membership awarded by the IEEE Board of Directors to individuals with outstanding achievements in IEEE’s fields of interest. In the case of Backes, the association’s reasoning was based on Backes’ contributions to IT security and privacy.
The annual number of new appointments never exceeds one thousandth of the total number of institute members entitled to vote. IEEE is headquartered in New York and in Piscataway, New Jersey. /gb
