DFKI at the 2024 Digital Summit: Future-oriented AI solutions for health and industry

Bild der Pressemitteilung

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) will present how trustworthy AI technologies can drive progress in key areas such as health monitoring and industrial production at the 2024 Digital Summit, to be held in Frankfurt on 21 and 22 October. This year’s summit theme, ‘Germany Digital – Innovative. Sovereign. International’, provides a forum to highlight the potential of AI in the fields of health and industry.

“Trustworthy and ethically responsible AI is a cornerstone of digital sovereignty and a critical driver of sustainable innovation. By empowering people to address both technological and societal challenges, AI holds transformative potential. This underscores the necessity of continuous exchange between science, business, and politics t – in order to jointly shape the path for a future-proof digital transformation.”

Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger, CEO, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)
Among the highlights are the 6G-Health Demonstrator, which showcases AI solutions in healthcare, and ‘Skye’, an AI-supported shared production demonstrator that illustrates sustainable production processes in industrial environments.
On 21 October, Sarah Rübel from the Mittelstand-Digital Centre will also take part in a panel discussion on the topic of ‘AI use in Germany’. In addition to Federal Minister Robert Habeck, representatives from business and science will provide insights into the dissemination and challenges of AI in Germany.
We look forward to the dialogue with you on site and invite you to continue the discussions around our innovative projects.

6G-Health: AI and 6G for life-saving early detection

With future-proof healthcare as its driving force, DFKI is developing the next generation of health monitoring as part of the ‘6G-Healths’ project. The aim is to use innovative sensor technology to capture vital data in real time and transmit it securely and safely through the high-performance 6G network. The collected data is then analysed by artificial intelligence (AI) to detect health risks such as heart attacks at an early stage – and to proactively enable medical staff to take action.

Factory system ‘Skye’: Efficiency meets sustainability

At the 2024 Digital Summit, SmartFactory-KL will present the shared production demonstrator ‘Skye’, which makes future-oriented solutions for sustainable industrial production tangible. The demonstrator, developed as part of the Green AI Hub, illustrates how artificial intelligence enables flexible, resource-efficient, and environmentally friendly production processes. Smart technologies are used to save energy and materials, making an important contribution to the sustainable transformation of industrial sector. ‘Skye’ impressively demonstrates how AI and intelligent factory systems can work together to increase efficiency while also conserving the environment.
