Computational Linguistics
Brief overview of the research field
This research area is all about the automatic processing of language, whether it is the analysis of thousands of written posts in internet forums, recognition of spoken commands, or communication with an avatar. The applications are diverse, from translation of texts to support of air traffic controllers through the analysis of radio traffic.
In Saarbrücken, computational linguistics has its own degree program. Along with the Department of Computational Linguistics and Phonetics, research in this area is also done at the Cluster of Excellence MMCI.
