Applied Analysis

Brief overview of the research field

Nearly all problems from science and technology can be formulated mathematically as differential equations. The wide range of such problems hints at the numerous variants and classes of mathematical research fields within this area.
The analytically oriented results are not only of theoretical interest, but can also be tailored in applied analysis to practical aspects: exact analytical statements such as existence, uniqueness, regularity, or stability justify a dependable algorithmic approach for current questions in the STEM area.
A variety of research groups ensure a broad presence in this research field; moreover, there is a strong link to numerical mathematics and mathematical data analysis, as well as to the area of visual computing.
